Acknowledging a legendary text about the American workforce. Also, Tim Curry saying “SPACE!” in a videogame cut scene. Again.

Here’s who won DOL’s homeless veterans awards this year.

We’re closer to a billion dollars than we’re not when it comes to Department of Labor grant money that Trump II hasn’t announced the past two years.

I found another list of grantees this week from monitoring federal grant records. This one is especially weird in context. DOL hasn’t announced the 2026 recipients of the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, an absurdly underfunded program that uses job training and social supports to aid veterans and their families who are housing insecure.

Politically, announcing this one should be a gimme. Few programs have as much bipartisan support, and HVRP is one of only a couple DOL workforce funding programs the White House hasn’t called for eliminating in its budget proposals. And if you read the news, it’d be a good time for the Administration to announce an award like this and show its support for veterans.

So… yeah, the silence seems odd. I did a couple checks to make sure I hadn’t missed an announcement of winners, or to be sure it wasn’t Announcement No. 14 out of a 30-announcement White House veterans event. I found nothing, and these awardees—which I’ve heard are live—aren’t publicly listed as current grantees. There, I only found last year’s winners.

Below, I list the 2026 winners of the grants and flag another missing award announcement I’ve gotten a fair number of questions about.
