Hey, wasn’t a lot more money supposed to have been awarded yesterday?
Wednesday was the close of the federal fiscal year. To explain things without miring this whole thing in the endless complexity of appropriations law, that means that a big honkin’ chunk of federal workforce money needed to be spent or directed toward a grantee by midnight last night.
The announcements, though, have been limited, as of this writing. We got a rather key Trump II awards announcement right at 5 p.m. EDT—not exactly the best time to let people know about what you’re up to.
I cover what is announced below, but the relative quiet here touches a bunch of stuff that’s been bubbling up in recent months. The good news is that I don’t have any indication that this money isn’t being spent. The bad news is that this could be a sign that Trump II is becoming even less transparent about where it spends money and why—which isn’t exactly the best thing for Trump II.
